Update: Suomennos

Eli millanen Washington DC sit on? No se on puhtaampi, kuin normaali jenkki kaupunki - ainakin niiltä osin, kun uus kaupunginjohtaja sen putsas. Julkisenkuvanhan pitää olla siisti ja hieno, onhan se mesta pääkaupunki.

Diggasin khyl DCstä kanssa. Loppujen lopuks hengasin suurimman osan ajasta gallerioissa ja museoissa, btw niit on aikasta paljon siellä. Totta puhuakseni mulla ei ollu edes aikaa käydä kaikissa joissa olisin halunnu, on aika raskasta kattella taidetta monta päivää putkeen ja vieläpä monta tuntia päivässä. Ja kaiken lisäks mun piti tehdä ne normaalit turistijutut - Capitol, White House, Lincoln Memorial. En viettäny niissä paljon aikaa, joten päädyin vaan katsastamaan noi mestat ulkoapäin.

Eka katsastin Amerikan Intiaanien Museon; magee paikka, siistejä juttuja - käsitöitä jne - mut silti jotain puuttu. Tietoa museo tarjos todella paljon interaktiivisten screenien ja videoiden kautta, ehkä sitä oli liikaa - en tiiä, tai sit se ei vaan ollu mulle tällä hetkellä, olis varmaan ottanu liikaa aikaa mun kiireisestä aikataulusta. ;)

Seuraavaks oli vuorossa Hirshhornin musea. Se on must paikka, jos oot DC:ssä. Ansel Kieferillä oli näyttely siellä Heaven and EArth. Todella mielenkiintoisia ideoita universumista ja taivaasta yleisellä tasolla. Hänen mielestä taivas ja maa on kaikki samaa ja tuli on yhdystekijä niiden välissä. No tuli on olemassa molemmissa paikoissa ja sillä kuvataan myös helvettiä, että kaippa siinä on joku logiikka. Anyweis Anselm käyttää sitä ideaa monissa töissään ja maalaukset on monet todella taidokkaasti tehtyjä ja mielenkiintoisia. Tykkäsin suurimmasta osasta kyllä. Itse en tiiä onks taivas ja maa yhtä, mut kyllä niillä yhteys on. Eiköhän hyvät teot makseta jossain vaiheessa ja pahoista teoistaan saa maksaa jossain vaiheessa.

Black Boxissa, Hirshhornissa - paikka uudelle medialle - oli kaks lyhytanimaatioelokuvaa ruotsalaiselta Magnus Wallinilta. Videot käsitteli ihmisruumiita ja anatomiaa. Molemmat oli mielenkiintoisia. Huono puoli oli vaan kakarat samassa tilassa. Jep pitäkää huoli, kun meette museoon ens kerralla se ei oo vloppu. Mun mielestä pitäis olla kakara vapaa päivä per viikko museoissa. On oikeesti aika rasittavaa koittaa keskittyä videoinstallaatioon tai vastaavaan, johon oleellisena kuuluu äänimaailma, kun ympärillä on joukko skidejä kikattamassa ja luomassa omaa äänimaailmaa videoon, no ei ne aikuiset aina oo sen parempia. Uskokaa pois - mä tykkään lapsista - ei se oo sitä, mut mä tykkään myös taiteesta ja haluun nauttia siitä. ELi minkäs teet? Ehkä just jotkut lasten- ja aikuistenpäivät olis ratkaisu. tiedä häntä ja on todella tärkeetä, et skidit näkee kans taidetta ja sen monet kasvot jo nuorena - avartaa niiden maailmaa kanssa. Ai niin Julie sua vois kiinnostaa Wallinin duunit, se on hieman sun työhön liittyvää, ja eniveis se on ruotsalainen. ;)

Center of American Art and Portrature - lähiaikoina saneerattu iso 1800-luvun Creek Revival rakennus. Sanotaan, että se on yks kaikkein mageimmista arkkitehtuurin näytteistä tuolta ajalta Jenkeissä. Mun mielenkiinto oli kolmannessa kerroksessa; Contemprary and Modern arts. David Hockneyn työ oli mahtava, kuva alla. Se oli komiuloittoinen maalaus pimeässä huoneessa. Valoilla Hockney sai katsojan mielenkiinnon keskittymään teoksen eriosiin ja ne loi siihen uutta tunnelmaa. Mulle tuli feelis, et olis ollu jossain mystisessä metsässä, osittain värien käytön takia ja osittain musiikin johdosta.

Siellä oli myös muutam mielenkiintoinen installaatio ja muitakin taideteoksia ja lisää lapsia. ;) Peter Fiscli ja David Weiss oli tehnyt 30min pitkän videoinstallaation - The Way Things Go. Se on ketjureaktiota, yks juttu johtaa toiseen, tulitikku sytyttää nesteen, neste poltaa tikun, joka pitää palloa jnejne. Se oli aika ihmeellista kattoo miten joku on voinut tehdä tommosen videoin, se kestää 30min ja ketju ei katkea kertaakaan. Mutta taas siellä oli skideja, no ei varmaan tarvii enempää niistä kirjottaa. Sain kuitekin idean siitä ja nautin siitä mitä näin.

Kaiken kaikkiaan DC on mahtava paikka, paljon gallerioita ja juttuja joita tehdä. Nauti, jos ikinä meet sinne, kolme päivää voi olla liian vähän, toisille se on liikaa - koskaan ei tiedä toisen preferenssejä. Ainiin voisin viel kertoo perjantaista - olin yhdessä pikku galleriassa, omistaja oli sulkemassa sitä ja sano, et jos haluun jäädä niin jää vaan ja tarjos lasin viiniä, juteltiin Dalista ja sen vaikutuksesta Espanjan taiteeseen ja moderniin taiteeseen. Kohta sisään tuli gallerian omistajan ystävätär - Meksikolainen taiteilija - nautittiin muutama lasi lisää viiniä ja keskustelu jatkui, ihan ku mä jotain taiteesta ymmärtäisin, mut olin ainakin hyvä kuuntelija. Ennen pitkää tajusin, että me oltiin kolmisin illallisella China Townissa ja keskusteltiin teosten kopioinnista - et ne pitäis olla laillisia. Ei kait siinä mitään pahaa oo, jos tietää, et teos on kopio. Maalaukset on kuitenkin paljon paremman näköisiä, kuin printit. Mut en tiiä miten sitä sit vois kontrolloida ja olisko niidenkin hinnat aika korkeita. Tiedä häntä, mut ainakin musta se olis jees. Ei mulla kuitenkaan oo ikinä mahdollisuutta omistaa yhtäkään Dalin teosta, et joutuu varmaan tyytymään printteihin ja muihin taiteilijoihin. Kaiken kaikkiaan ilta oli mahtava ja opin paljon taiteesta ja muista kultuureista. Tässä tää olis tältä kertaa. Ens kerralla kirjottelen Phillystä, siellä en ehtinyt paljoakaan tekemään, mut muutamat galleriat tuli katottua ja juostua Rockyn jalanjälkiä.



Washington DC, what is it like? Its more cleaner than normal American city - at least from the areas th new major "cleaned". Public picture must be nice, after all its the capital of the city.

I liked DC as well. Ended up spending most of my time in galleries and museums, and there's a lot of those. To be honest didn't even have the time to visit all the galleries I wanted to, simply I was too tired. Beyond that all I had to do some things that you just have to do when you're in DC - Capitol, White House, Lincoln Memorial. I didn't want to spend my time on those so I decided just to check them out from the outside.

My first point of interest was Museum of the American Indian; nice place, cool things, but still something was missing. The museum is full of information and interactive screens, maybe it was too much - I don't know, maybe it just wasn't for me at the moment.

Next stop was Hirshhorn Museum. That's a place to go. Anselm Kiefer had an exhibition in there; Heaven and Earth. He had some really interesting ideas about universe and heaven and earth. He thinks that heaven and earth all the same. He believes that fire is the glue of the cosmos. It connects heaven and earth and he uses that idea in his art. I dont know about if heaven and earth are the same, but definitely there's a connection between heaven and earth. Fire can be figuratively a connector between heaven and earth. But anyway the art is really worth of checking out.

In Black Box, in Hirshhorn. Its a space for new media. There was two short animation films from Magnus Wallin. The films explored the human bodies and human anatomy. I liked these animations or 3D films. Only down size were the kids in there. Yeah make sure, that when you next time go to museum or exhibitions, make sure its not a weekend. In my opinnion there should be a day in each week, whne kids are not allowed to enter the musem premisses. Think about how annoing its when you're trying to concentrate on something - like a short movie - and there's a punch of kids giglin and talking in the same space. Well maybe its not the kids fault, but still its not nice. And believe me I like kids, its not that, but I like arts as well. So what can you do? Ouh yeah Julie you might be interested in Wallins work, well its work related, but anyway and beside he's Swedish.

Center of American Art and Portraiture - recently renowated huge 19th century Greek Revival building. It has been said that its conciderd to be one of the finest examples of Greek architecture in US. My interest was in the third floor; Modern and contemporary art works. David Hockney's work was really nice, pic below. It was a three dimensional work in a room. With different lights Hockney was able to change the point of interest with in the work. I got the feeling like to be in a mystical forest, partly because of the colors he used and partly because of the music that was played in there.

There was also lots of other intersting installations and art works and children again... There was this one 30min video by Peter Fiscli and David Weiss: The Way Things Go. Its all about chainreaction, one thing leads to another, like a match fires a liquid, it burns a stick that was holding a balloon and so on. Its amazing cause it lasts 30min and the chain never breaks... But again there was kids making funny noises over it and so on. At least I got the idea and saw the video. Too bad tough.

After all what I can say about the DC, its cool place and there's a lot of galleries to see. Enjoy when ypu go there. Ou yeah one more interesting story about the friday night, I was in this one small gallery in downtown, the owner closed the galley and let me stayed in, we had a couple of glasses wine and talked about arts and Salvador Dali. Then her friend - mexican artist - came in as well and we had couple more classes wine. After a while I realized I was having a dinner with these and talk about arts and how replicas should be leagal to do - as long as you know its not a real one. The paintings are so much better looking than the prints. Any way the night was really good and learnt lots of new things.

Sorry for not been so active during past couple of days. I've been busy to visit all the galleries and museums. This post is all about San Fracisco Museum Of Modern Arts. All I can say is that five hours is not enough for the place. I loved that place and really looking forward to visit MOMA in NYC.

Also Designer Alexandre Girard was there. Damn how I loved his design, or some of them. Julie you should check his jobs, I think you would love 'em. He used to be a designer for Hermann Miller for several years and some of them was really nice, a bit like old scandinavian style I think. Or more like Finnish style. I might be wrong, but thats the way I feel.

One more interesting part of the museum was the poster collection. Look for a poster from Reax Ray or David Singer, ofcouse you cannot forget to mention Urban Inks as well. I rally loved them and there's something missing from Finland in that area. People are now brave enough to do some ultimately crazy and weird posters. People are just too concervative in Finland I think, they are not - well maybe I could write that - I wasn't able to be creative because I thought too much about the expectations people have. Trying to change that one now... We'll see what happens.

The last room I visited was a video installation of Phil Collins. The video installation is a part of three-part video project - the world wont listen. This is a second part of it and its recorded in Turkey. It's called dünya dinlemiyor. In the installation Collins invite people ot sign karaoke and he films them. Its way too hillarious and funny. It was nice to realize that people in Turkey are not that outside from the western music or from the western world over all.

The SFMOMA was really a nice plave to visit. If you ever got to SF that's something you have to do. But there's also a lot of other smaller galleries that are worth of visiting. SF is a place where you can find anything, arts, parks, business, beach, city, nature you name it. The only thing that's not with in the bicycling distance is Mountain where you would be able to snowboard. Too bad have to move for some other city than.

I'll keep you posted trm and tell you about Washington - thats different from SF, but way too cool as well. And yes I did the White House and Capitol tough not going to tell you about those. Going to tell you about music and arts.

Anteeks tää on vaan englanniks. Mulla ei oo aikaa kirjottaa tota suomeks, mut se kertoo San Franciscon Modernin Museon keikasta. Sinne kannattaa ehdottomasti mennä. Vietin siellä joku kuus tuntia ja se ei ollut tarpeeks. Suosittelen suuresti. Huomenna postaan Washingtonista ja sen taiteesta ja musiikista. Philadeplhia on taas musiikin kaupunki, et sieltä tulee varmaan jotain siltä saralta, tai ei sitä ikinä tiiä.

San Francisco_Day4 and 5

So here I'm again. After couple of days bicycle trips I feel like I'm alive again. Its amazing what sports and fresh air can do to you.

If you really want to explore the SF and surroundings bicycle is a damn good solution. I rented a bike for 24hours. During first day I took a day trip up north, cycled trough Golden Gate Bridge towards the small villages in north. damn they are nice ones. I cycled a smile on my face and waived for everyone, and no I wasn't high. It was just so nice to cycle with out a rush or actual destination, just enjoying the views and freash air.

During a second day I took my bike and head Golden Gate Park, Lincoln Park and The Presido. WOW those parks are really nice and people who say that Central Park is big Presido is twice as big as CP. Cannot compare them cause haven't been in CP yet, but I'll go there in a week or so and inform you people how is it. The views and small trails in Presido are just cool. Really recommend you to visti the place.

Today was a day for public art. The day ended up to be one of the most non turistic and real in SF. I head to Mission and wondered around the streets, enjoyed the graffitis, posters and some galleries. The streets in Mission are like from the real life or movies - heroin zombies, crack whores, Mexican families and hipsters walking around the streets. That's reality and America in a good and bad sence. Disn't like the drug addicts, but the normal people are nice in there and there's a lot of things going on. Seems like everyone knew each other. I visited coulpe of art galleries as well. The most interesting was the one that supported the local artist, cannot remember the name but you should check at least these two photographers if you ever come over; Trish Tunney (www.trishtunney.com) and Glenn C Hummel (www.ghummel.com). i really liked their work.

Hmm some thinks from my past couple days. "War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery and Ingorance in Strenght" George Orwell wrote that in his book 1984. As you might know the book is all about control society, thank good we're not living that. Think about how things would be if you wouldn't have the freedom of speech or even tought? I don't like extreme powers or activisms in any sence, but because Orwells writings I have start to think that we need the extreme forces as well. Its just oo bad that the ones who are in charge in these groups haven't found a right way to protest. Throwing bricks or creating a havock is not acceptable. But with out critisism we wouldn't be able to develope. Process needs the opponent force as well. Don't know if this makes any sence but bare with me. What i mean is that one should never close his or her eyes to criticism. We should learn to take cricis as a gift. Learn from it not protect our own toughts too much. Open your mind and you'll get closer to happiness and better person.

Tässä taas mennään. Pari päivää fillarointia tekee ihmeitä ihmiselle, tuntuu, kuin olis elossa taas. Urheilu ja raikas ilma todella auttaa...

Jos todella haluat tutustua SF:oon ja ympäristöön ota fillari alle. Vuokrasin fillarin 24tunniks ja se oli sen arvoista. Ekana päivänä fillaroin pohjoiseen Golden Gate Bridgen läpi ja tutustuin muutamaan pikku kalastaja kylään pohjoisessa. Todella kauniita kyliä, suosittelen suuresti. Fillaroin hymy kasvoilla ja moikkailin vastaan tulijoille, ja joo en ollu pilvessä - oli vaan todella mahtava tunne fillaroida ilman kiirettä ja päämäärää nauttien maisemista ja raikkaasta ilmasta.

Tokana päivänä suuntasin fillarin Golden Gate Parkkiin, Lincoln Parkkiin ja Presidoon. WOW noi mestat on mageita, siis puistoja kaupungissa. Ja btw niille jotka sanoo Central Parkkia isoks niin Presido on tuplat sen koosta, et sellasta. Tosin en voi vertailla puistoja, kun en oo käyny Cenrtal Parkissa, vielä, mutta kaikki aikanaan, kahden viikon sisällä sekin on tehty. Todellakin suosittelen teitä tutustumaan noihin puistoihin, jos tulette tänne.

Tänän olikin sitten julisen taiteen päivä. Päivästö muodostui loppujen lopuksi kaikkein ei turistein ja realistisin täällä ollessani. Suuntasin Missioniin ja kuljeksin kaduilla, nautin julisteista, graffiteista ja muutamasta taidegalleriasta. Missionin kadut on kuin oikeesta elämästä, tai elokuvasta - heroiini zombiet, crack huorat, Meksikaani perheet ja Hipsterit vaeltelee kaduilla. Se on todellisuutta Jenkeissä, hyvässä ja pahassa. En digannu narkkareista, mutta normaalit ihmiset oli aitoja ja mukavia ja kaduilla tapahtu kokoajan. Tuntui kuin kaikki olis tuntenu toisensa ja porukka vaan risteili ympäri keskenään. Vierailin pariss galleriassa kanssa, tosin en muista niiden nimiä. Mielenkiintoisin oli yks joka tuki paikallisia artisteja. Ainakin kaks valokuvaajaa jotka kannattaa tsekata jos ootte tänne päin tulossa on Trish Tunney (www.trishtunney.com) ja Glenn C Hummel (www.ghummel.com). Nautin noiden töistä todella paljon.

Kuten varmaan tiedättekin kirja kertoo kontrolli yhteiskunnasta, kiitos luojalla ettemme elä sellaisessa. Ajatelkaa maailmaa ilman sanan- tai ajatuksen vapautta. En diggaa ääriliikkeistä, mutta Orwellin kirjoitusten myötä olen alkanut ymmärtämään niiden merkityksen - ne luovat keskustelua ja ruokkivat kehitystä. Harmi vaan, että monesti ääriliikkeiden johtajat ei ole löytäneet oikeaa tapaa protestoida. Kivien heittely ja mellakan luominen ei ole ratkaisu tähän. Mutta ilman protestia emme voi kehittyä. Prosessi vaatii vastavoimia kanssa. En tiiä onks tässä mitään järkee, mut koettakaa kestää. Tarkoitan, että meidän ei pitäis sulkea silmiä kritiikiltä. Meidän pitäisi oppia ottamaan kritiikki lahjana. Oppia siitä, eikä suojella omia ajatuksiamme liikaa. Avaa mielesi ja pääset lähemmäksi onnellisuutta ja parempaa ihmistä.

San Francisco_Day2 and 3

What a city. You can still find the hippie attitude, but most of the famous Haight area is pretty commercial, too bad cause would have love to see the place when it was all peace 'n love. The shops in the area are over priced and there are such a stores as stüssy, american apparell and they had Mc Donalds there as well. not so hippie anymore. Even its commercial you can sense the hippie atmoshpere in some places, you jutst need to take couple blocks away from the haight street or continue to Golden Gate Park. I really recommend you to visit the park, its huge and there's a lot to see and do. Too bad I was there alone and couldn't do any sports or what so ever in there.

My journey included the adventure to worlds famous gay district, Castro. That was real at least. It was just what I was waiting. Boys and men walking hand in hand, couplse hugginf and kissing each other. I spend three hours in a cafe in there, the best service i've ever got. Comparing Fairmont and the service in there wouldn't be fair - for Fairmont. The people were openminded and very polite, but I think most of the people tought I was a gay as well. I still managed to be straight, so no worries girls I still love you all. ;) If you don't have expectations towards gay people Castro is a place to visit. Lots of cafes and nice reastaurant and bars.

What have i learned in here? Not much waht I didn't realize in Whistler. The openes of this place support the new way of thinking I have now a days. I feel like i need to do some decission when I come home. What I really want to do and where. I'll dedicate my life for happiness.

I'll post more in a couple of days. Ouh yeah and I planned the rest of my trip today, on 18th I'll fly to Washington, stary there for three nights, take a buss to Philadeplhia and stay there for two nights and take the bus to NYC, the last destination.

Oi pojat mikä kaupunki. vieläkin täällä on aistittavissa Hippi aate, vaikkakin suurin osa kuuluisasta Haightin alueesta on kaupallistunut aika pahasti. Harmi olis ollu oikeesti magee nähdä se alue, kun ruoho, rauha ja rakkaus täytti kaupungin. Nykyään alueen kaupat on ylihinnoiteltu ja aluetta kansoittaa esim STüssyn ja American Apparellin liikkeet, jopa Mäkkäri on löytänyt tiensä Hippiaatteen keskukseen. Vaikkakin paikka on todella kaupallistunut, voit aistia oikean hippiaateen menemäll muutaman korttelin pois Haight Streetiltä tai jatkaa matkaa Golden Gatae Parkkiin. Puisto kannatta katsastaa, jos on menossa sinne kulmille, se on iso ja siellä on paljon nähtävää ja tekemistä. Harmi, että olin siellä yksin ja en voinut harrastaa tai muutenkaan osallistua mihinkään.

Lauantaina oli aika tutustua Castroon, kuuluisaan homo alueeseen. Ainakin se oli aito ja kutakuinkin odotusten mukainen. Pojat ja miehet kävelemässä käsikädessä, parit halailemassa ja suutelemassa toisiaan. Istuin kolme tuntia paikallisessa kahvilasa, ja todellakin parasta palvelua ever. Ei olis oikeudenmukaista verrata Fairmontin ja Castron palvelua, Fairmont jää niin kakkoseks. Kaikki alueen ihmiset oli yper kohteliaita. Tosin luulen sen johtuneen siitä, et suurin osa jengistä varmaan luuli, että olen homo. Yksinäinen poika kahvilan kulmapöydässä lukemassa kirjaansa ja tarkkailemassa ihmisiä. Vedä siitä sitten johtopäätökset. Onnistuin kuitenkin säilyttämään mielenkiintoni tyttöihin, ei huolta tytöt rakastan teitä vielä. Jos sulla ei oo ennakkoluuloja homoja kohtaan kannattaa poiketa Castrossa, paljon mageita kahviloita ja ravintoloita ja tietenkin baareja.

Mitäs täällä on tullut opittua? Eipä juuri mitään, mitä en olisi jo Whistlerissä tajunnut. Ehkä tää ilmapiiri on vaan vahvistanut feeliksiä ja oon alkanut miettimään asioita entisestään. Luulen, et kotiin päästyäni mun pitää tehdä muutamia päätöksiä mitä halua tulevaisuudelta ja missä. Ei ole pois suljettua, ett muutan pois Suomesta ja suuntaan mietteeni ulkomialle pieneksi hetkeksi. Omistan elämäni onnellisuudelle.

Postailen lisää muutaman päivän sisällä. Tulossa on 25 kilsan fillari trippiä ja muutama taidenäyttely. Ainiin buukkasin ja suunnittelin tänään loppureissun, 18pvä Washingtoniin, kolme yötä siellä, bussi Philadelphiaan, pari yötä siellä ja sit dösä mun matkan huipentumaan Nykkiin. Vapise New York City, poika tulee ja rokkaa sen matalaks.

This place is awesome. Been here only for a day and alreade love this city. People are nice, the architecture is a mixture of old and new. The night life, well yesterday I went out - didn't drink much, but I did have a lot of fun - the music and people. Thanks for everyone who was there.

Have to tell you Alaskan Airlines didn't fail, again. I woke up 2am so I would catch the bus to airport. Well the night busses doesn't use the same route so I missed it. Waht then.. Taxi and 25 bugs, compared to 3.50 its quite much. Luckily I had enough time and I managed to catch the plane. We were already in the beginning of runway when captain announced that we need to return because there's some techinal problems with in the air conditioning system. So we returned to airport and the flight was delayed by 2hours. Way to go Alaskan Airlines. My second fligh with them - total delay time 8hours. :D

Yesterday I walked around the city and did some turistic things in Bay area. I love the sea and the view there is. The day was windy, but warm. Today i'll concentrate to find the truth behind SF, the city of hippies and gay people. So I'm starting my journey from Castro area and continue to Haight and Ashbury. The Castro is the famous gay area and you can see it. There's only a few straight people in here, but the atmosphere is so nice, polite and open. And no the gays are not trying to pick up straight people all the time - well sometimes they do it, but not often. ;) I'm really lookin forward about the hippie area. I use to be more open minded towards the hippie attitude, but now a days I've become more concervative. We'll see what happens. That's about it now. I'll get back to you later on.

Tää paikka on aika älytön. Ollu vasta päivän ja mä rakastan tätä kaupunki - kaukana perus jenkkilästä. Ihmiset on ystävllisiä, arkkitehtuuri on sekoitus uutta ja vanhaa. Yöelämä, eilen olin klubilla ja oli todella hauskaa. Ei tullut dokailtua, mutta musiikki ja ihmiset. Kiitos eilisestä ketä ikinä olikin mukana.

Täytyy sanoa, et Alaskan Airlines ei pettänyt taaskaan. Heräsin kahdelta, että ehtisin dösään kentällä. No yöbbussit ei lähde samasta mestasta ja missasin sen. Eli taksilla kentälle ja 25 taalaa, versus 3.50 dösällä. Onneks mulla oli tarpeeks aikaa ja ehdin koneeseen. No oltiin jo kiitoradan alkupäässä, kun kapteeni kuulutti, et täytyy palata takas terminaaliin, ongelmia ilmastoinnin kanssa. Eikun takas ja lento myöhästy 2 tuntia. Onnea Alaskan Airlines. Mun toinen lento niillä ja lennot ollu myöhässä yhteensä 8 tuntia. :D

Eilen tuli kierreltyä kaupunkia ja tehtyä turisti juttuja Bayn alueella. Meri on vaan niin magee, et sitä ei voi kun rakastaa. Päivä oli tuulinen, mutta todella lämmin. Tänään olis tarkoitus keksittyä San Franciscon todelliseen luonteeseen - SF on hippien ja homojen kaupunki. Aloitan matkani Castron alueelta ja jatkan Ashbury and Heightsin kulmille. Castro on kuuluisa homoalue ja sen huomaa katukuvasta. Täällä on vain muutamia heteroja, mutta ilmapiiri on niin ystävällinen ja avoin - ehkä juuri siksi. Ja ei, homot ei koita iskea heteroita kokoajan - okei välillä, mut ei yleensä. ;) Hippialueelta odotan aika paljon. Aikanaan olin enemmän avoin hippiaatetta kohtaan, mutta myöhemmin musta on tullut enemmän konservatiivi. Saas nähdä miten pojan käy. Siinä kaikki tältä kertaa palaan blogin ääreen myöhemmin.

Seattle

What is the city like where grunge was born? I had only one day to explore the whole city and that's not enough. The only things I basically did was the walking around the city and then visting the EMP, Experience Music Project, and SFM, Science Fiction Museum.

The SFM was disappointment, if that kinda of museum can be. There were a lot of figures and shait, but actually the informative part of the evolution of science fiction was a bit lame. Not interesting enough. Well at least I saw couple of my childhood favorite movies costumes. :D

After SFM I didn't expect a lot from EMP. But it surprised me positively. There was an interesting exhibiotion about hip hop, even tough I'm not so into Hip Hop it was nice to realize how it was born in Bronx and the relationship it has with house music. There was also really interesting exhibition about the Disney's music and the history of it. There were also a room where you were able to dub the effects to an old Disney cartoon, by the original "machines". It was quite funny to clap and tab different pieces to create sound effects, like slamming the door, the hurricane wind and so on. Also the Jimi Hendrix Gallery was nice. It showed the whole life line of Jimi, from birth to death.

Ok this post is one of the most boring ever, but don't mind. Seattle is a rally nice and interesting city, too bad i didn't have more time to spend in here. Tomorrow morning, at 6am, my flight departs to San Francisco. That will be interesting.


Ou yeah and bad news in a way. I was supposed to see my friend in SF, got a message from him that he became sick and fly back to Finland. Another set back might be in NYC. I was supposed to meet my Montreal roomies and friends in there, but it seems like they are not coming after all. Well hopefully they'll come, cause we'll have a blast in there for sure.

Minkälainen on grungen syntymäkaupunki? Vietin vain päivän tutustuessani grungen syntymäkaupunkiin, eli vaikea sanoa. Koko päivä meni oikeastaan kävellessä kaupungilla ja tutustuessa EMP:n, Experience Music Project, ja SFM:n, Science Fiction Museum.

SFM oli pienoinen pettymys, vaikkakin siellä oli suuri määrä tavaraa eri vuosikymmenien leffoista. Informatiivinen osuus ja faktat science fictionin eri vuosikymmeniltä oli aika vaisuja. En kyllä odottanut museolta juuri mitään, mutta silti se oli pettymys. Olihan se tietty mukava nähdä vanhojen suosikkileffojen hahmoja ja skulppeja, mutta silti.

Odotukset EMP:a kohtaa oli aika alhaalla ton edellisen jälkeen. Tosin Projekti yllätti mut täysin. Siellä oli erittäin mielenkiintoinen näyttely Hip Hopin synnystä ja kehityksestä nykypäivään ja oli mielenkiintoista nähdä hip Hop:n alkutaipaleet Bronxissa ja sukulais juuret Houseen oli myös mielenkiintoisia. Toinen mielenkiintoinen näyttely oli Disneyn musiikista kertova. Disneyn musiikki ei ole ihan pikkujuttu vaan sen takana on aika suuri joukko ja kaikki on todella huolellisesti suunniteltu. Näyttelyssä oli myös huone, jossa pystyi duppaamaan ääniefektit Disneyn vanhaan piirrettyyn. Oli aika hauskaa kokeilla erilaisia "koneita", joilla efektit on aikanaan tehty, kuten oven paiskaaminen, pyörremyrsky jnejne. Jimi Hendrixin galleria oli kanssa todella mielenkiintoinen paikka. Se kertoi Hendrixin koko historian syntymästä kuolemaan.

Joo, tä postaus on yks tylsimmistä ever. Seattle on oikeesti magee kaupunki, harmi että mulla ei ollu enempää aikaa hengata täällä. Lento San Franciscoon lähtee huomen aamulla klo 6. Siitä tulee mielenkiintoista.

Ainiin, huonoja uutisia... Mun oli tarkoitus tavata frendi San Franciscossa, sain tänään viestin, et jäbä oli tulle kipeeks ja joutui aikaistamaan lentojaan Suomeen. Parane pian kaima ja törmätään sitten kotomaassa. Toinen takaisku koski Nykkiä. Mun piti tavata siellä mun Montrealin kämppikset ja yks frendi. No nyt näyttää siltä, et ne ei tuukkaan. No sellasta se on, puheet on aina erijuttuja, kun teot. Toivottavasti kuitenkin nään kundit, olis nimittäin aikasta siistiä.

R.I.P. Whistler

Everything good has an ending. But it also means a start of something new - why not make it good as well. Whistler is history, for now, for me. And new adventures are waiting. What happened in Whistler? They say that what happens in Whistler stays in Whistler. I’m not gonna do that. I will tell everyone what really happened there: I had one of the best times in my life. The mountain is so huge that, even six days weren’t enough to conquer the whole area. The powder was so great, even tough I heard that the powder away from the coast is even better - softer and lighter I mean. We didn’t spend our time in the bars or clubs, it might have been nice as well, but when you come to certain age you’re not able anymore to party like an animal until the last call and get up from bed at seven. So fur us its better to concentrate only for a one thing.

Thanks Keith and Mary for hospitality, all the favors you did for us, the food, the bookings, transportation and and and… With out you two this trip would not have been possible. Thanks Olli for your time, it was great to snowboard with you, again. We have to take the trip to Norway next summer and maybe Alps before that. And of course thanks for all the other people we’ve met during these days, Ash, Bri, Tash, Paul, Sharon, Darcy, Tracy, Gary, Doris Amy and AJ. And I’m sorry for all the time we took from you. You were all great and so polite for us and did so much for making this trip to be unforgettable and you really did it. THANK YOU ALL, I will miss you all and hope to see you in Finland or in Vancouver some day. You never know what the future looks like. And Thank You for the ones whose names I have forgot or not remembered when I was writing this.

Time has come for me to move along to new adventures. I have three weeks to go, before my return flight to Finland. I miss Finland a bit and especially some people in there, but still I will do my best to enjoy my time in here. At the moment I’m in Seattle and tmr I’ll be heading to San Francisco. In there I’ll spend six days and after that I’m not sure what will I do. Life will show it to me. One thing I’m sure - I’ll enjoy every minute of my life and time in here.

During my stay in Whistler I realized one important thing - the meaning of death. Its something we should not be afraid of. As Paulo Coelho wrote the death give us the meaning and the purpose to be here. Humans are the only creatures in the world that realize there’s an ending for them - death. Because of the understanding we push our selves to the limit and go over it, we do things that we want to, we enjoy our lives. I feel petty for the people that don’t live like that. I also petty my self - I haven’t done so many things because I’ve been afraid of. I haven’t been able to be myself. By this I don’t mean to do something stupid – like making huger jump or drops with your board. I mean all the words that I haven’t said and all the things I haven’t done for the ones I should have. This is something I regret. I’ve been afraid of to become rejected. That’s something I will concentrate in the future – to be more honest for myself. To live and enjoy the time I have in here. When I’m able to do that, I have overcome the fear of the death. Death gives us the meaning to be better persons.


Kaikki hyvä loppuu aikanaan, Loppuminen on myös jonkin uuden alku – miksi ei nauttisi siitäkin. Whitler on historiaa, toistaiseksi ja uudet seikkailut odottavat Nousiaisen poikaa. Mitä Whistleristä jäi käteen? Toiset väittää, että mikä tapahtuu Whistlerissä, jää Whistleriin. Ei mun kohdalla. Aika jonka vietin siellä oli yhtä parhaista mitä mulla on ollut ja sen saa kaikki kuulla, vaikkei haluisikaan. Vuori on todella valtava, ettei edes kuusi kokonaista päivää riittänyt sen täydelliseen valloittamiseen. Puuteri lumi oli niin pehmeetä ja sitä oli niin paljon, vaikkakin sisämaan lumi on kuulemma vieläkin pehmeämpää ja kevyempää. Me ei kulutettu aikaamme baareissa, tai klubeilla, meille tärkeintä oli laskeminen ja se todellakin oli sen arvoista. Eikä tällä iällä enää jaksaa bilettää pilkkuun asti ja nousta aamulla seiskalta mäkeen, ei vaan onnistu.

Kiitos Keith ja Mary vieraanvaraisuudesta, kaikista palveluksista joita teitte meidän eteen, ruuasta, vaurauksista, kuljetuksista jnejne. Ilman teitä matka ei olisi ollut mahdollinen. Kiitos Olli ajasta, olipahan taas aikasta mageeta olla laskemassa jäbän kanssa. Ens kesänä Norjaan ja Alpeille jos vaan rahaa ja lomaa löytyy. Kiitos myös kaikille muille tapaamilleni ihmisille, Ash. Bri, Tash, Paul, Sharon, Darcy, Tracy, Gary, Doris, Amy, and AJ. Ja anteeksi ajasta, jonka me otimme teiltä. Te teitte kaikkenne, jotta meidän reissu olisi unohtumaton ja siinä onnistuitte loistavasti. SUURI KIITOS TEILLE. Mun tulee ikävä teitä kaikkia ja toivottavasti näemme vielä jossain vaiheessa, ehkä Suomessa, tai Vancouverissa. Ikinä ei tiedä mitä tulevaisuus tuo tullessaan.

Mun on aika jatkaa matkaani kohti uusia seikkailuja. Vielä on kolme viikkoa jäljellä ennen kotiin paluuta, vaikka Suomea on hieman ikävä ja varsinkin ihmisiä aion silti nauttia ajastani täällä. Tänä aamuna saavuin Seattleen ja ylihuomenna oils lähtö kohti San Franciscoa. Siellä ollaan kuus päivää. Sen jälkeen en tiedä mitä teen tai minne menen. Rauhallinen surffispotti kiinnostais, mutta aika näyttää. Yhdestä asiasta olen varma, aion nauttia kaikest mitä teen täysin rinnoin.

Whistlerissa ollessani tajusin erään tärkeän asian – kuoleman merkityksen. Meidän ei pitäisi pelätä sitä. Kuten Paulo Coelho on kirjoittanut; kuolema antaa meille tarkoituksen ja syyn olla täällä. Ihmiset ovat ainoita olentoja, jotka tiedostavat lopun koittavan. Ymmärryksemme takia suoritamme elämässämme paljon. Kokeilemme rajojamme ja ylitämme niitä. Teemme asioita joista nautimme, tai ainakin meidän pitäisi. Säälin ihmisiä jotke eivt elä niin. Säälin myös itseäni – olen jättänyt tekemättä niin monta asiaa, koska olen pelännyt. En ole kyennyt olemaan oma itseni. En tarkoita että pitäisi tehdä jotain uhkarohkeaa, tai uhmata kuolemaa. Tarkoitan kaikkia sanoja, jotka on jättänyt sanomatta ja tekoja jotka on jättänyt tekemättä, vain koska on pelännyt torjutuksi tulemista. Tätä minä kadun. Tulevaisuudessa aion keskittyä olemaan oma itseni ja olemaan rehellinen itselleni. Aion elää ja nauttia joka sekunnista mitä meillä on täällä. Kun onnistun siinä voin olla onnellinen ja silloin olen voittanut kuoleman pelkoni. Kuolema antaa meille syyn olla parempia ihmisiä.

Whistler 3rd post

Today we woke up at seven in order to be the first ones at the mountain. The view was worth it.

Today was one of the best days in my life. Yesterday I decided that we go home from the bar at half past nine. Never happened before. Well Olli took this all on video, cause he needed to have some evidence back home. The reason??? There was a snowfall of 55cm again. I wanted to be the first one on top of the mountain and take the best powder ever. Was it worth it? Hell yeah... We were at the base station at eight o'clock. It tooked three hours for us to travel to the bowl. At eleven o'clock we were on top of the bowl, the first ones in there. WOW the feeling. (You can see our line from one of the pics above) There's no suc a feeling in the whole world, or then I'm jsut missing some feelings in my life. :) There's powder as far as you can see, there's you and your friend, no one has touched the snow before you and you have your board. What will you do? No such a question for me. Just do it!!! And I love every minute of it. After the first run we needed to hike 20min to get back to lift, but it was all worth it. We did it twice after that.

Tää päivä oli yks parhaista mun elämässä. Eilen illalla oltiin baarissa, totesin Ollille kympin aikaan, et nyt mennän himaan nukkumaan. Siis HÄ!? Oli vastaus ja Ollin oli pakko ottaa kaikki videolle, et se voi todistaa sen himassa frendeille. No oli siihen syykin; me tultiin tänne nauttimaan laskemisesta, ei baareista. Niitä on kaikkialla. Eilen illalla ja viime yönä tuli about 50cm uutta lunta ja Symphony Ambhiteathre oli kiinni edellisen päivän. Halusin olla eka, joka on siellä tänä aamuna. Eli kellot soimaan seiskalta ja hisseillä kasilta. Onnistuttiin missiossa ja yhdeltätoista oltiin Bowlin yläosalla, ensimmäisinä, valmiina laskuun. Bowlin ylä osaan haikkaus kesti sen 20min ja laskun jälkeen piti haikata about sama aika. Joku vois pitää hulluutena, et kävelee keskuksessa tollasia matkoja yhden laskun takia, mä en. Se on vaan niin täydellistä nähdä edessään koskematonta lunta silmän kantamattomiin. Kaks täydellisen onnelista, mutta lopen uupunutta kaveria sen todistaa... Kiitos ja anteeks ystävät ja rakkaat sukulaiset.

Whistler 2nd post

So here we are again... Yesterday morning was good for boarding. Here's the first run we did. It was fantastic steep and enough powder. It was like floating on top of the clouds. Have to tell you people that there's nothing that wins the feeling of 50cm fresh snow, un touched and you're the first one to crack it... It's just something you cannot even imagine. Even the sholder that droped of the day before didn't bother me at all... Finally I felt the actula powder.

Sorry folks in Finland, you cannot get this in there. I tought I had powder, but it was nothing compared to this in here.

Tervehdys. Täällä taas. Eilinen aamu oli loistava lautailulle ja tossa on kallion kieleke, joka duunattiin ekana. Oltiiin ekana siellä ja saatiin jyrkkä rinne jossa oli tuoretta lunta reilusti. Pakko todeta, et se on jotain aivain uskomatonta. Edellisen päivän olkapään pieni sijoiltaanmeno ei edes haitannut. Lumi täällä on vaan niin uskomatonta.

So here we are. The best resort / mountain I've ever seen. Last 2 days we have spend discovering the secrets of Blackcomb, tough on monday there was only one lift open, due the wind conditions (over 70km/h). Today we were able to hit some fresh snow - Champagne Powder for those who dont know ;) - eventough we woke up pretty late, around nine o'clock. Snowfall for next night is forecasted to be around 40cm, so I think tmr we'll take the first lift up and hit the top among the other early birds. Five days to go in here. What else could you ask for???

Eli siis täällä ollaan. Maanantai oli aika heikko laskupäivä, vaan yks hissi oli auki loppu ajan, mut onneks saatiin Gondoli otettua yläasemalle, ennenku se meni kiinni. Kaikki siis johtu kovista tuulista, päälle 70km/h. Eli kaks pvää ollaan kulutettu Blackcombia valloittaessa ja on todellinen unelma jo pelkästään se puoli tästä mestasta. Nää vuoret on aika hauskoja, tänään todistettiin kaikki mahdolliset sääolosuhteet, aamulla kauhee sumu, huipulla täydellinen ilma, tuoretta lunta, pilvetön taivas ei tuulta, sit iski koste kevätlumi ja huono näkyvyys. että näin näillä vuorilla.
